'The 16th Chapel': That's how singer Justin Bieber referred to the Sistine Chapel on David Letterman's show last night - causing Dave to start howling with laughter
Justin Bieber sat in stunned silence for a few seconds last night as David Letterman ripped into him about the quality of his education.
The 18-year-old singer was a guest on the Late Show when Letterman began nagging Justin about his another tattoo he just had inked into his left inner forearm.
'Don't go nuts,' the late night host chastised him about the body art. 'Because more and more you'll seem like a mural ... like the Sistine Chapel, it's too much.'
To which the Believer singer answered, 'I'm not going for the Sixteenth Chapel.'
'Gramps!' Justin told Letterman he was acting like an old man
Quick-witted Letterman let Justin's juvenile response sink in for a second while the audience realized Justin's huge mistake.
The Sistine Chapel is a world famous chapel in the Vatican painted by Italian artist Michaeangelo in the 15th Century.
The teenager, though, seemed to understand the reference and appeared merely to be mispronouncing the name.
Finally, Letterman chuckled and deadpanned, 'Canadian high school.'
New ink: Justin showed Dave his new tattoo which said 'Believe'
Ironically, it was Letterman who showed how little the host knows about his guests.
Although Bieber is Canadian, he's been mainly living in Los Angeles since he was discovered at the age of 14.
For his entire high school career, the Baby singer has been home schooled on the road by a series of American tutors.
Fans don't care: Justin was typically mobbed as he went in for a taping of the Letterman show on Wednesday
In May, Bieber announced he passed the test in Canada to earn his high school diploma.
It was Ellen DeGeneres who threw the pop star a mock graduation ceremony on her talk show.
'We're here to honour the accomplishments of the Biebs, a great American who happens to be from Canada,' Ellen said in a joke-filled speech before handing the entertainer his diploma.
Bieber has said he's uninterested in obtaining United States citizenship and has been sharply critical of America's health care system.
