And as Katie Holmes and her six-year-old daughter emerged from Manhattan's French bistro Pastis following today's rainfall, Suri looked wary of crossing the fresh puddles in her tiny flip-flops.
So much so, that her obliging mother soon swooped in to carry her precious little gem. The mother-daughter duo didn't seem dressed for rain as they finished lunching together at the popular eatery located on Ninth Avenue.
Katie, 33, appeared to have thrown on a mint-green jumper with black dot detail over her chambray shirt and Seventies-style jeans.

She recently landed a role on the Broadway production Dead Accountants, and her romantic comedy Responsible Adults with Chace Crawford is due out later this year.
Katie will also appear next year alongside Jean Reno, Allison Janney, and William Hurt in a yet-to-be-titled Christian Camargo drama, which is a modern retelling of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull.

Two nights ago, the former Dawson's Creek star was accompanied by her lawyer Jonathan Wolfe, and reportedly his wife Renee, for a meal in the Big Apple.
Despite her personal and career successes, it would appear that Katie has decided to lie relatively low for the moment and take advantage of simple pleasures.
She cancelled what would have been her first official public appearance since her split, at last night's Dizzy Feet Foundation gala held at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles.
